Yep, that IS correct—I will be a traveling (wo)man for the
next six weeks! I start at the OH SHRM State Conference,
HR- A League of Our Own, in Sandusky, OH at the Kalahari Resort. This will be
my second time attending and based on
the warm reception last year, I’m very excited to attend again.
The Institute is also attending two other events at the same
time: Puerto Rico SHRM
Annual Conference and the North
Carolina SHRM State Conference in Wilmington, NC. We have a lot of great
Institute representation: Rubens Pessanha, GPHR, HRMP, global marketing
research specialist and Oscar Lasso, client relations certification lead, are
holding it down in Fajardo, PR, and Stephanie Runyan, PHR, recertification
supervisor, is spreading knowledge in Wilmington. If you are reading this from
either of these conferences, please stop by and say hi. It’s always nice to see
a smiling face when you’re away from home!
Immediately following my quick trip to Sandusky, OH, I will
head to Denver, CO for the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources
Administration (ASHHRA) 48th Annual
Conference and Exposition. Joining me from the Institute will be Lee Ann
Evans, director, administration and client relations. Earlier this year I
attended the VaASHHRA (Virginia’s ASHHRA chapter) conference and I was so
impressed with the enthusiasm about certification from the HR professionals I
met, I can only imagine how great this annual conference will be!
Did you think I was done? Absolutely not! I will then head
southeast and meet Stephanie Runyan in Louisville, KY for the 28th Annual
Kentucky SHRM Conference. Last year we weren’t able to attend because of
conflicting schedules, so I’m very excited to be a part of it this year and
meet over 700 attendees eager to learn more and ask recertification questions.
This will be my first time to the great state of Kentucky. You might think I would be all “BBQ’ed out”
after four days in Memphis last week, but think again! I am resilient and ready
to eat my way through Louisville!
Well, that pretty much rounds out September events, and
October is just around the corner. Stay tuned for highlights from these
conferences and where our team will be for October and November. I can give you
a hint: we will travel as far West as Anchorage and as far South as
Johannesburg, South Africa!
