Understanding Your Score Report

 Permanent link

Congratulations to the HR professionals who recently completed one of our examinations, and thank you for your interest in earning credentials! At the HR Certification Institute, we understand the diligence and discipline it takes to prepare for one of our rigorous exams. We hope you were successful and can now join the 127,000+ HR Professionals who hold one of our certifications.

When you are reviewing your score report, which indicates if you have passed or failed your exam, you will note that the scaled score ranges from 100-700. You must earn a total scaled score of 500 to pass and receive a Professional in Human Resources, Senior Professional in Human Resources, Global Professional in Human Resources, California Certifications Human Resources Business Professional, or Human Resources Management Professional.

We have highlighted the exam performance for each test taker. This allows you to better understand your performance in each functional area of the exam. If you did not pass the exam, you can utilize this information for study guide efforts for future exams. If you did successfully pass the exam, you can use the report to learn the areas of the HR Body of Knowledge that you should focus on for future success.

• Lower-below the minimum score for passing candidates

• Slightly Lower-slightly below the minimum score for passing candidates

• Comparable –similar to the minimum score of passing candidates

• Higher-exceeds the minimum passing score

How scoring works:

• Scaled scores-are shown to those examinees that have not passed the exam. This compares your individual result with the score you need to pass the exam, and may help you to decide how much additional preparation is required to pass.

• Successful candidates are only provided with their passing result. This is because certification exams are designed only to indicate candidates whose exam performance has met the passing standard, and those who have not. They are not intended to rank order candidates, and could be misused.
